Are you conditioning your horses for summer riding?
Pick mares and sires for breeding that have proper confirmation for the movement
of the breed, select ones that go together correctly, feed proper and simple
nutrition and avoid obesity, trim properly and only when needed and at the
angles that the horse is supposed to have and obligate your farrier to respect
that very much, if your horse does not have natural exercise like large
pastures, you have to put some exercise for them (a horse in a small environment
even if it is a large paddock is like you being in bed), exercise growing horses
to good condition, condition properly, don't ride a horse that is lame, handle
your horse well after a ride by hosing the legs down and be sure the horse is
cool before you put him in a stall, and check them the next day by feeling the
legs and checking the hooves. If you do not know yourself about something ask
someone who does like a good vet. Run far away as fast as you can from any vet
who will say or think that because the horse is of a particular breed that he
can treat him differently and say disease instead of injury.

Hi my name is Dave, I live in
Victoria , Australia. while browsing tonight I came across your site and spent
an enjoyable hour checking out the info and pictures. Down here in Australia we
only have around 50 pure Peruvians and 50 pure Paso's with about 100 cross
breeds, the first and biggest importer was a gentleman named jorge de mayo, he
imported 1 stallion and 12 mares approx' 15 years ago, the gene pool here is
very small. I bought the only offspring he has ever sold, What a magic animal,
he's an 8 year old with a gate that is a joy, I'm 68 and past trotting !!! I
have a mate who has 3 pure and 1 cross which he bought from 2 other sources, at
this time he is attempting to import a stallion from Canada, this will improve
the gene pool by about 15% , feel free to show this note to any one ,keep up the
good work .Dave
