Annual Pot luck and Ride at TreeTops Ranch

The plans were made, who was coming and what to bring. Everyone was looking
forward to our ride and lunch.
Wouldn’t you know, the night before our ride, we had a thunder and lightning
storm! 1am, I was thinking great, after all the work we did to clear the paths,
now trees could be down again and the paths could be slippery! What are we going
to do? Well, I thought, we could just have our lunch, if anyone still wants to
come to TreeTops.
Don and I get up early in the morning. We feed the horses and make a run through
the paths in our Kawasaki Mule. No down trees and the paths were dry. What
luck!! Thank you Lord.
6am I send out an e-mail saying that all was clear and the pot-luck and ride was
on. Then we have our breakfast. Then we put up the directional signs.
10am everyone starts to arrive. Since Linda and Patrick were late and the sun
was hot we all went into the arena for shade. Then off we rode off up towards
our old growth tree we have named Novina (nine branches), then went through
Grandpa’s park in the forest and under the trees to keep in the shade. Everyone
was looking for the “Ghost Car” and Patrick was the first to spot it. Then to
the “west 40” and into more paths and under more trees. By then, I still got
heat stroke, so some of us dropped out, while the rest went on. My poor horse,
Replica. She didn’t want to stop, and really had a tantrum!
Once everyone got their horses settled down for their lunch and cooled off, they
all came into the house for a great lunch and lots of fun. Of yes, Since Patrick
was the first to find the “Ghost Car” he got a first place ribbon and candy!
What a day!!
